Xena works under Aphrodite and has very clear communication with Aphrodite specifically. Back in Xena's life, he was killed tragically by a hit-and-run when he was hurt in a fight when he was just trying to hunt for food in the forest. Sadly, his death ended quickly. He felt lost, trapped, and exhausted and wandered the astral realm for a long while. One day, Aphrodite found Xena and took him in to care for him. Aphrodite helped him heal from the physical and emotional pain that he endured in his life. Now, he works under Aphrodite.
